PAEDIATRIC OSTEOPATHY

“When a child is born it has to start working – literally – to counteract some of the habits that are already established in its body. So if complications occur during birth the body may struggle to self-correct. Peadiatric osteopaths work with the body’s inherent self-correcting and healing mechanism, preventing entrenchment of abhorrent tension. Even a new born child will have already established a habitual pattern, plus if complications occur during birth the body may struggle to self-correct. Peadiatric osteopaths work with the body’s inherent self-correcting and healing mechanism, preventing entrenchment of abhorrent tension.

Consider the knee-up fetal position of every unborn child, this sends a line of restriction between the lower back and the inner thigh, through the pelvis, if not naturally worked out through baby movements and crawling, this can make upright balance difficult or the line of tension through the pelvis (and thus associated organs) may lead to local dysfunction or lowered immunity, i.e. a child prone to urinary infections. The repercussions may also be more distant because if effective healing is elusive, an interconnected body will then try to compensate in other areas to improve the overall situation. Every child is unique and the demands from growing bodyweight and finer movement control may then bring out the inherent weakness.

All ailments, however serious, are a result of an imbalance somewhere in the network of the body’s systems. Unresolved stresses can become problematic later in life. If stresses are allowed to accumulate they can become more difficult to resolve. Children are very adaptable and treatment can give them the freedom to realise their full potential.
